This documentary workshop is about reportage and documentary photography. This workshop is geared for photographers with completed bodies of work or long term projects in development, and provides photographers with an opportunity to intensively analyze and develop one body of work. Michael Christopher Brown will also lead attendees through an intensive program of project development, editing and sequencing.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW:
Working knowledge of digital workflow and manual mode on your digital SLR or mirrorless camera. Participants must be able to download, select, and transfer images to their own jump drive for class each day.

Photographers should bring their laptops and be conversant with their hardware and software in order to facilitate downloading and projecting their work for critiques in class. Digital projectors with standard DVI / VGA cables will be provided. If you require DVI connectors and / or adapters, please bring one to class.
All Workshop Participants are invited to the Canon/Freestyle Digital Print Center at Korakia on Thursday, September 24th from 11:00am to 6:00pm to have an image of their choice printed out on a Canon Pro 2000 printer, using custom profiles and on their choice of several inkjet papers.
BIOGRAPHY
Michael Christopher Brown is a photographer and filmmaker whose work focuses on social issues around the globe. His recent work-in-progress explores the electronic music and youth scene in Havana, Cuba, and the conflict in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. A contributing photographer at publications such as National Geographic Magazine and The New York Times Magazine, he was subject of the 2012 HBO documentary Witness: Libya. Michael joined Magnum Photos in 2013.
Michael has also exhibited his work internationally, notably at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the Instituto Cervantes (New York), The Museum of Fine Arts (Houston), the Annenberg Space for Photography and the Brooklyn Museum.
In this workshop, we will face several issues like social photography, photojournalism and reportage in general, street photography and portraying people, personal vision and the long term project.
